Drainage Solutions

Get standing water out of the yard and away from the house.

The job

Northern Virginia's heavy clay holds water, and a yard that stays soggy for days after a storm usually has a grading or outlet problem underneath. We find where the water is coming from and where it can go, then build the fix, whether that's a French drain, a sump-pump discharge, regrading, or a combination.

What we handle

  • French drains (gravel trench + perforated pipe)
  • Sump-pump discharge lines run to a better outlet
  • Downspout extensions and buried downspout lines
  • Regrading low spots and re-establishing lawn over the trench

How we approach it

We walk the yard with you, ideally after a rain, and show you where the water is going before we recommend anything. You get a written scope that says what we'll dig, where it drains to, and how the lawn gets put back.

Great company to work with, had a large drainage issue in my back yard and they recommended doing a French drain with a sump pump to the front yard and it’s been great. Very professional and knowledgeable.

Questions

Common questions

It depends on where the water comes from and whether it has somewhere lower to go. Surface water from a neighbor's slope is often a grading fix; water that sits in clay with no natural outlet usually needs a drain. We'll tell you which, and why, on the walk-through.

It has to go somewhere legal and lower: typically toward the street, a storm drain, or a part of your yard that can take it. On one recent job that meant a French drain feeding a sump pump that discharges to the front yard.

Yes. Virginia law requires a VA811 (Miss Utility) ticket before excavation, and we wait for the lines to be marked before trenching.
